Bengaluru, Apr 18 Amid growing coronavirus cases in the state, the Karnataka government has said the district administration’s permission is mandatory to book marriage halls for events. According to the new guideline, organisers have to also issue passes for guests. These decisions were taken on Saturday after ministers R Ashoka, Basavaraj Bommai and Dr. K Sudhakar held a video conference with DCs, SPs and district health officers regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Organisers will be booked If the number of passes issued extends the capacity of permitted people to attend the event, the latest guideline said. Wedding hall owners will also be responsible for violating Covid-19 protocols and their licenses will be seized, it said. However, this rule will not apply to those who have already booked wedding halls and choultries. While directing officials to enforce these new rules strictly, Revenue Minister R Ashoka said, "The number of passes should be in line with the cap on attendance. For example, 100 people are allowed to attend a wedding in a hall. Only 100 passes should be issued. If more passes are issues, cases will be registered against the organisers." The state government had limited the number of guests at weddings to 100 for indoor ceremonies and 200 for outdoor ceremonies. Furthermore, the state government also banned village fairs and religious functions until further notice. During the meeting, many officials suggested extending night curfew timings from 8pm-6am to control people moving frivolously in the state.
