Don’t throw waste in drains, water bodies: SMC to Poultry outlets, dealers

YB N e w s Srin ag ar, Apr 1 6 Srinag ar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Friday directed the poultr y outle ts and dealers not to throw the waste in drains and water bodies, saying that those found involved in the act shall be liable to a fine of Rs 1 0,000 /- on every such instance a nd sealing of bus iness units on continued subsequent offences. The corporatio n in a bid to avoid such happenings has come up with a Poultry W aste Co l lec tion Service in S rinagar which according to the offic i als is available on a monthly chargea ble b asis. An order under n umber S MC /PS/ COM /75 9-7 67, dated 16-04-2021 in this regard h as bee n issued by the SMC C om mi ssion er Athar Aamir Khan. “It ha s been obs erved that many of the poultry outle ts & dea lers a re throwing their generated poultry waste eithe r in ci ty dr ains or in wat er bodies or over the r oad - sides which is an unl aw - ful activity causing an irreversible damage to the environment and public.
