Kin thrash teacher, blacken his face for sexually harassing Class 10 girl

Chandigarh, Apr 16 Family members of a minor girl in Punjab's Phagwara thrashed a school teacher before handing him over to the police on Thursday. Alleging that the teacher had sexually harassed the Class 10 girl, her kin have now filed a case in this regard with the local police. The incident took place at a private school in Phagwara in Kapurthala district of Punjab. Parents of the girl, along with kin, barged into the school and thrashed the teacher while also blackening his face with ink. Identified as one Vikas Kumar, the teacher was then handed over to the police. He has been booked under section 354-A (punishment for sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), said Inspector Navdeep Singh. The parents, in their complaint to the police, said the girl was among a group of students who were called to the school on Monday to clear their doubts. Family members allege the accused teacher asked the minor to stay back for extra lessons. He then asked her to watch a vulgar clip on his mobile phone.
