Hoogli, Apr 15 As Bengalis celebrated the beginning of their new year on Thursday, there wasn't much enthusiasm among the Dalit community in Goghat village of Arambag subdivision in Hooghly district of West Bengal. The community alleged that they were looked upon with "disdain". They said like any other community, they also contribute to donations for various rituals. However, they are not allowed to participate in those rituals. They also alleged that women from the community were not allowed to enter temples during 'Neel Shashti puja' on Tuesday. Twenty five Dalit families, involving more than 150 people, living in Goghat are still victims of this orthodox and discriminatory tradition. A local Pratima Das said donations were also taken from the poor in the village. Last year, Das claimed she donated Rs 2,000 for the construction of a Shiva temple
