Stop trolling women, give them due respect says Rekha Rajput

Rekha Rajput, President Human Rights Social Justice Commission during an interaction with Young Bites correspondent explains working of the department POOJA THAKUR/ SHUBHAM GUPTA Jammu, Apr 12 Q. What is basic requirement to empower women? RR: Human Rights Social Justice Commission comes up with different ideas to empower women in our society and around. We boost their self-esteem, guide them to be financially independent, provide them a job so they don’t have to rely on others for basic needs. During the lockdown, many downtrodden families were in distress. We provided them essential amenities, a sustainable job so that they can take care of their families. Despite this, there’s huge movement among women to empower one another, secure equal rights and establish a brighter future for our daughters. Q. What are your views on commenting? RR: The society is categorized into parts, one is male dominant (who want women to remain dependent on them) and others who support women and give them equal rights. Some days before, there was a bodybuilding competition in J&K in which 3 women candidates participated. Instead of supporting them, the audience started trolling them for their physique, whereas, the men got compliments. We all are aware that sexism is morally wrong but still our girls have to face all these issues. We respect everyone's freedom of expression but in the modern world, it has brought a lot of negativity into women’s lives. We have to come together to stop trolling. Q. How distressed women can contact you? RR: You can contact us through our website of Human Rights Social Justice Commission or follow our page on Facebook and drop a message; we will contact you as soon as we receive your message. We provide counseling and jobs at private companies. We are here to help you and it is our promise that you won’t go back empty-handed.
