Army interacts with serving community, veterans

Jammu, Apr 07 A nation which remembers and acknowledges the contribution of its brave veterans who toiled through challenging times and in hostile conditions, its future will always be in secure hands. Living up to these traditions of maintaining contact with Veterans an interaction was organised at Panchayat Ghar, Saryah in District Rajouri (J&K). During the interactions issues of employment opportunities through NSDC accredited courses, problems faced by veterans and need for women empowerment were discussed. In an endeavour to forge closer ties with the veterans, social and development issues to bring backward areas of the region at par with developed regions of the state was specially discussed. The meeting gave an informal platform to the veterans to share their experiences related to development programmes. The attendees were informed regarding various welfare schemes launched by the Government for the benefit of ESMS including skill development for setting up small scale industries. Importance of Communal Harmony in the process of overall development of society towards the positive contribution was also stressed upon. A lecture was also organised to educate the attendees on importance of COVID-19 vaccination. The veterans hailed the efforts made by Army and assured their participation towards overall development of area and in bringing peace and harmony in the society. A total of 14 Ex-Servicemen, 11 Civilians, seven VDCs and six Sarpanch and Naib Sarpanches attended the event.
