Army celebrates World Health Day

Jammu, Apr 07 'World Health Day' was commemorated at number of places in Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri Districts (J&K) on 07 April 2021. The 'World Health Day' is a Global Health Awareness Day celebrated every year on 07 April under the flagship of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The first World Health Day was celebrated in 1950. Theme of this year World Health day is “Building a Fairer, Healthier World for Everyone”. On this occasion, Indian Army medical officers conducted awareness lectures at Daraba, Kotli, Moolie Mohra, Peer Baba, Badlun, Pauni, Talwara and Mohogala on various health related issues, so as to spread awareness on importance of good health which further impact family, friend and society as a whole. The speakers emphasised that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body and advised all to maintain good health, for which a balanced diet, daily exercise, inhaling fresh air, drinking clean water, maintaining good posture, having sufficient sleep and rest is of utmost importance. Attendees were guided to take adequate precautions from Covid-19 pandemic as it has undercut recent heath gains, pushed more people into poverty and food insecurity and amplified health inequalities. The awareness lectures were attended by a large number of locals to include students, youth and village elders and it evoked considerable interest among the locals. Attendees requested Army to organise more such awareness lectures in future as well.
