Mumbai, Apr 6 Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant is excited and charged up as he gets ready to lead the team for the first time in his Indian Premier League career this season. Pant replaced Shreyas Iyer as the DC captain after the latter was ruled out of IPL 2021 with a shoulder injury. DC got back to winning ways under Iyer since he took full charge in 2019, taking them to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years before leading them to their maiden IPL final in 2020. Pant therefore, has big shoes to fill in Iyer's absence, and he can't wait to lead his team on to the field on April 10. Pant's first game as captain will be against 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings, who will be led by MS Dhoni. Pant has spent a good part of his international career in Dhoni's shadow and learnt a lot from the legendary wicketkeeper. He is now looking forward to lock horns with his idol and even has a few new tricks up his sleeve, as revealed by Pant himself. "I am very excited that I'll be captaining for the first time and the first game will be against Mahi bhai. "It'll be a good experience as I've learnt a lot from him and I have a lot of experience from my life too, so we'll try to mix that up and to do something new and different with CSK this year," Pant told Delhi Capitals. Pant has had a golden run in international cricket since the beginning of 2021 and will be looking to carry forward that form in the IPL this year with the added responsibility of leading DC. "I would like to make the most of this opportunity. We haven't won a title, I will try my level best to get one this year and I think as a team, I feel we're playing nicely.
