CBI to record statement on allegations levelled by Param against Anil Deshmukh

Mumbai, Apr 6 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will start recording the statement of Param Bir Singh in connection to Anil Deshmukh case on Tuesday. Singh had levelled serious allegations against Anil Deshmukh, who resigned as the Maharashtra home minister. A six-member CBI team will reach Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon to record the statement of Dr Jaishri Patil, the petitioner on whose PIL, the Bombay High Court ordered a probe by the federal probe agency, before registering preliminary enquiry (PE) in the case. Sources said after recording the statement, the agency will decide on the sections that will be invoked against Anil Deshmukh in the PE to investigate the allegations made my former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh. The central agency is also expected to record statements of Param Bir Singh and others officers mentioned by him during its preliminary enquiry. If CBI finds the allegations by Param Bir Singh true during its PE, then an FIR will be registered against him and a formal investigation will take place. Anil Deshmukh, on the other hand, is expected to approach the Supreme Court against the order given by Bombay High Court.
