Admin augmenting water supply to meet additional demand for SANJY 2021

Y B News Kishtwar, Apr 06 Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for augmentation of drinking water supply to meet the additional demand during the ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2021. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal; Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Nazir Jaral and other senior officers of the Department attended the meeting. The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to begin from June 28 and will continue till August 22 , 2021. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Nodal Officer SANJY 2021, briefed the meeting about the need to enhance water supply in the holding area of the district from existing 4000 Gallons to 10000 Gallons. He added that additional water tankers shall be deployed in order to meet the requirement of potable drinking water. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure that dedicated water supply is extended to the yatris at all the new holding areas to be set up to accommodate the pilgrims in view of the suspension of yatra and closure of roads due to inclement weather. The meeting also finalized the total requirement of water storage, gravity mains and installation of distribution system for supply of regular water supply to the holding areas.
