A total of 130 Gujjars and Bakarwals attended the registration camp and got benefitted from this unique initiative of the Indian Army. Mr Syed Sahil Ali Shah, Tehsildar Khawas Tehsil, carried out registration and issued the passes to the Gujjars and Bakarwals during this Registration Camp. Indian Army has always been at the forefront of helping these migratory population during migration as well as during their stay at the higher reaches by providing necessary medical and veterinary assistance, providing education to their children and providing other basic necessary items especially during COVID pandemic. The registration camp was aimed at assisting the Gujjars and Bakarwals hailing from Khawas Tehsil in their documentation process for registration and issuance of passes, which facilitates their migratory movement across the Pir Panjal Ranges in the Kashmir valley. The locals lauded the efforts of Indian Army for organising such an unique event for Gujjars and Bakarwals prior to the upcoming migratory season and facilitating their documentation process. This initiative of Indian Army will go a long way in further strengthening and cementing the already existing bond between the Awam and Army and will benefit the Gujjar Bakarwal community to a very great extent.
