BJP blowing hot and cold with the same breath: Harsh Dev

Vijaypur, Mar 7 Accusing the BJP leadership of making contradictory, vague and obscure statements over various issues of public importance, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister said that such duplicitous character would cost the party heavily at the hustings. He said that while the state BJP leadership made a statement prior to its Katra convention asserting that restoration of statehood and early Assembly Elections were its priorities, the BJP National General Secretary has come out with an altogether different stand. He pointed out that Tarun Chug who also happens to be the incharge of J&K BJP has categorically stated that restoration of peace was party’s priority and not the Assembly polls or restoration of statehood. Singh was addressing a massive party workers convention at Vijaypur today alongwith Yash Paul Kundal Party General Secretary and Former Minister. “Not only had the BJP leadership taken a contradictory stand over the political future of J&K but with regard to a host of other issues as well merely for public consumption and damage control. The flip flop of BJP over property tax is another case on the point. While its own central leadership has enacted the legislation for imposition of property tax in J&K and issued directives in this regard, a few of the local leaders were assigned the task of making vague, confusing statements as a measure of face saving and for extracting political capital out of it. Not long ago, the State BJP leadership had indulged in aggressive posturing in the media with a lot of muscle flexing in public over the issue of Toll Plazas, but all such melodramatic rants proved to be a hoax, said the NPP Chairman. It’s dilly dally over Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday had already sparked massive outrage against the hypocrisy of its leaders, he added. Cautioning the BJP to refrain from such treacherous moves, Singh said that it was not only the lame duck posturing of BJP which had angered the people of Jammu but the dichotomy in the statements of its leaders who were making incongruous and irreconcilable statements with the objective of cheating the gullible masses. He said that utterly confusing and conflicting statements emanating from BJP were indicative of its deep rooted frustration and bafflement for having failed to come up to the expectations of the people.
