J&K Police’s Inter Battalion Sports Meet from Mar 8

Jammu, Mar 7 The Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing Inter Battalion Sports Meet-2020 at Jammu. The event is being conducted from 8th to 10th March-2021 at Jammu. J&K Police has to its credit many achievements in the field of sports. The players of J&K Central Sports Teams have performed outstandingly well in All India Police Championships and at National/ International level competitions both in the capacity of Players as well as Coaches. The Jammu and Kashmir Police has over the years been organizing Inter Battalion Sports Meet as a part of its sports annual calendar. The motive for conducting the sports meet is to get the police personnel relieved from the daily routine mental trauma and to get young energetic /talented and outstanding players identified to represent J&K Armed police in forthcoming Inter Zone Sports Meet besides their induction in J&K Police Central Sports Teams. J&K Police has to its credit successfully organizing mega sports events of National level and lastly we have organized 19th All India Band Competition at Jammu in the year 2019 in which J&K Police Brass has won first position. Inter Battalion Sports Meet is a step to promote sports culture among our jawans/officials. The participating jawans in the Inter Battalion Sports Meet 2020 belong to different parts of UT and representing their Battalions located in different parts within the UT to get an opportunity to intermingle with each other and exchange their experience and culture accordingly. The Inter Battalion Sports Meet-2020 will be the first sports mega event organized by J&K Police in 2021 and in this connection, all the SOPs issued by the Government shall be adhered to in letter and spirit. The opening ceremony of the Meet is scheduled to be held on 8th March 2021 at 1600 hours at Gulshan Ground Jammu for which Danesh Rana-IPS, IGP (Designate ADGP) Armed Jammu has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest, while the Closing Ceremony is scheduled to be held on 10th March-2021 and A.K Choudhary-IPS, DGP Armed J&K shall be the Chief Guest. During this event personnel from 32 Battalions of Armed Police are participating. In men and women category the main sports events are Basketball, Volleyball, Tug of War, Boxing, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Football, Handball, Kabaddi, Shooting, Wushu, Judo, Athletics/Cross Country, Pencak Silat, Arm Wrestling, Powerlifting, Fencing, and Sepak Takraw, besides for men Hockey & Bodybuilding and for women KhoKho & Archery are the other sports event. For Gazetted officers sports events are Shooting, Badminton, Table Tennis and Lawn Tennis.
