Ashwin becomes 5th Indian bowler to get to 600 international wickets

Ahmedabad, Feb 25 India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Thursday became the fifth bowler from the country to get to 600 international wickets with the dismissal of Ben Stokes in the third Test. It was also the 11th time that Ashwin has dismissed the England allrounder in Test cricket, making him the player who the off-spinner has dismissed the most. After taking three wickets in the first innings of the third Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ashwin was left stranded on 599 international wickets. Stokes’s dismissal was Ashwin’s first for the day and with it he reached the 600 international wicket milestone behind Anil Kumble (956), spinner Harbhajan Singh (711), Kapil Dev (687) and Zaheer Khan (610). The dismissal included here include those that the bowlers got while playing for India as well as the Asia team. Ashwin on Thursday also went on to become the fourth Indian bowler to get to 400 Test wickets. He is the fastest Indian and the second fastest in the world after Sri Lanka.
