Ahmedabad, Feb 24 India fast bowler Ishant Sharma on Wednesday became only the second India pacer after Kapil Dev to feature in 100 Test matches. For the occasion, Ishant was felicitated by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Home Minister Amit Shah just before the start of the Pink-ball Test in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif took to social media to applaud his former team-mate and said that Ishant could not have found a better stadium to play his 100th Test. “Biggest ground, tallest cricketer: Ishant could not have found a better stadium to play his 100th Test #MoteraCricketStadium,” said Mohammad Kaif. Ishant Sharma has become the 10th player from India to play a century of Test matches when he took the field against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera on Day 1. The Indian team also gave Ishant a guard of honour just before play started in the Pink-ball Test against England. A day earlier, India captain Virat Kohli applauded and said that the bowler deserves full credit for such longevity. Kohli went on to say that Ishant Sharma could have prioritised white-ball cricket to prolong his career but praised the bowler for giving importance to Test cricket. "It's rare to see a pacer have such longevity these days. Ishant could've easily prioritised white-ball cricket but full credit to him that he didn't. I'm so happy that he is playing his 100th Test and hope he plays for India.
