Woman kills mother-in-law with iron rod, attempts suicide later

Mumbai, Feb 23 A32-year-old woman attempted suicide after allegedly killing her mother-in-law in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The accused has been identified as Yogita Karale, a resident of Bekare village, who allegedly murdered her mother-in-law in a fit of rage using an iron rod. Since Yogita’s husband had died two years ago, she resided with her mother-in-law Tarabai, father-inlaw, and two kids at Bekare village in Neral. According to police, Yogita got into a heated argument with her mother-in-law Tarabai Karale over some domestic issues. During the course of the argument, Yogita, in a fit of rage, hit Tarabai on the head with an iron rod twice, leading to a grievous injury that resulted in her death. The villagers informed the Neral police about the gruesome incident. Soon after the police reached the spot, Yogita locked herself in the bathroom of a neighbour’s house. She then consumed toilet cleaner. The police broke open the door and found her lying unconscious with froth coming out of her mouth. Police have registered a case of murder against Yogita.
