Doda, Feb 22 Indian Army, Doda completed laying of water pipe line from Mori Nala to Masjid Mohalla in Khankot area of Doda district for a distance of four kms on 20 Feb 21. The laying of water pipe line started on 11 Feb 21 and culminated on 20 Feb 21 bringing an end to long pending issue of clean drinking water to locals of Masjid Mohalla. Masjid Mohalla is a remote locality in Khankot area of Doda district with a population of 300 approximately. The extreme remoteness of the area and terrorism has adversely affected the overall development of the region. The locals, especially ladies had to face daily challenges of fetching water from far distances enduring bad weather and tough terrain conditions. Absence and non availability of basic needs like water to every household was a major cause of concern for the villagers since ages. The concern was brought to notice of Company Commander, Khankot Company Operating Base of Indian Army by the locals and the difficulties faced by them prompted Indian Army to initiate a water pipe line project on priority. The laying of pipeline was carried out at rapid pace to alleviate the sufferings of locals at the earliest, especially ladies of the village. The villagers were filled with joy upon receiving uninterrupted water supply directly to their households for the first time in their lives. This humanitarian effort by Indian Army has gone a long way in winning hearts and minds of local populace and the villagers were out of words to thank Indian Army for resolving the long pending issue of water supply.
