Mumbai, Feb 22 B r i h a n m u m b a i Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Chahar said that the next 12 days are crucial for Mumbai in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the city. Chahar said that the BMC will be "ruthless" and not spare anyone found flouting Covid-19 norms. "Next 12 days are crucial. We will be ruthless. We will lodge FIRs against violators in marriage parties, including the bridegroom and bride's parents," Chahar said. Chahar said not more than 50 people in a marriage party are allowed and appealed to the public with folded hands to cooperate. He also said that there is a possibility that new variants of the virus are driving the upsurge in Covid-19 cases, adding that resumption of local train services has a role to play too. "Violations are being dealt with. Policemen are marshals and can impose fines," Chahar said. Maharashtra has been witnessing a spike in daily Covid-19 cases for the past few days. And, in a bid to caution people.
