White Knight Corps organises “A Nature Walk”

Jammu, Feb 21 In order to create an ecological awareness and to familiarize the residents of Nagrota Military Station with the local flora and birds, a “Nature Walk” was organised by White Knight Corps for all ranks and families of the Station on 21 Feb 2021. The event was hosted by Dr OP Sharma (Retd), IFS Officer of J&K Cadre. Dr Sharma is a renowned author and expert and has hosted approximately 845 tree walks all over the country. The event was graced by Mrs Asha Suchindra, Zonal President White Knight AWWA alongwith 23 Officers, 25 Other Ranks and 62 families. Dr OP Sharma described the relevance of trees and the birds in an elaborate manner enlightening the audience with their ecological importance as well as their mythological connection. An insight was also given to the participants about the herbs available in the Station Herbal Garden, their use in day to day life and medicinal benefits. A display of literature on ecological awareness and photographs of various birds of Nagrota was also organised. The event terminated with a group photograph and refreshments for the participants. The Nature Walk paved a new perspective on ecological awareness in the minds of all the participants and elicited a keen interest.
