To keep environment clean is collective responsibility: Arun

Arun Khanna, Corporator of Ward No 25 of Jammu Municipal Corporation in an interaction with Young Bites correspondent Pooja Thakur shared detailed descriptions of the ongoing and completed beautification works of his Ward. Q. On what projects you are working now? AK: The lanes and drains construction is done in many streets and laying of color street tiles is under process. The open gymnasium was first constructed in my Ward. There are so many developmental projects underway. I had constructed a view point my Ward. I had cleaned the child grave yard and planted saplings around. People should make good terms with their neighbors. If they have good terms with neighbors, they can keep their lanes and drains clean. It is a fact that people with good nature guide others to keep their place clean. Q. What are grievances of locals? AK: The basic demand of the public is cleanliness, perfect lanes and drains and working street lights. I have already readdressed these grievances. But in some parts of the Ward there is a serious problem of open defecation, for that a project was taken up but the concerned authority does not have funds in its kitty. As soon as the funds will be made available, the remaining project will be completed. The problem of open defecation gives an ugly look to the Ward. I hope soon the project will be completed. Q. What are your future projects? AK: Many developmental projects are being launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the Swatchta Abhiyan, the dream of Mahatma Gandhi will not fulfill without the people’s support. I want to assure my Ward resident that I would make my Ward cleanest amongst others with their support, if I am not able to do my best I will resign as Ward Corporator.
