No one above law, says Maharashtra Home Minister on Dhananjay Munde

Mumbai, Jan 15 Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Friday said no one is above the law in Maharashtra and the police have full freedom to conduct fair investigation in the rape allegations levelled against NCP leader and state minister Dhananjay Munde. When pointed out that the woman who has levelled the allegations has alleged that the police have yet not registered an FIR based on her complaint, Deshmukh said the matter is being investigated. "The police will take proper action. There is no one above the law in Maharashtrano minister or official. Investigation in the case is on and police will take due action in time," Anil Deshmukh said. Dhananjay Munde, a minister in the Maha Vijas Agadi government, is facing rape allegations by a woman in Mumbai. Munde has refuted these charges and termed them as a blackmail tactics to extort money. On Thursday, top NCP leaders including party chief Sharad Pawar, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil met at NCP.
