President Ram Nath Kovind launches VHP's Ram temple fundraising drive with Rs 5 lakh donation

New Delhi, Jan 15 President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday donated Rs 5 lakh for the construction of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. A delegation of senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) met President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday morning. The delegation also included co-president of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Govind Dev Giriji Maharaj, working president Alok Kumar and temple construction committee head Nripendra Mishra. Confirming the news, VHP International Working President Alok Kumar said, "He is the first citizen of the country so we went to him to initiate this drive. He donated a sum of Rs 5,01,000." Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also donated Rs 1 lakh as a contribution to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
