Western Command CELEBRATES Veteran’s Day

Jammu, Jan 14 Western Command Celebrated 5th Tri Services Veterans Day on 14 Jan 2021 at Chandimandir Mil Stn by paying homage to the gallant soldiers who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The Veterans Day commemorates beginning of a new era in 1948 when reins of the Indian Army were taken over by an Indian Officer, General KM Cariappa, OBE (later Field Marshal) who succeeded the last British Commander in Chief, General Francis Roy Butcher as the first Commander-in-Chief of Independent India. To commemorate the momentous day, the Veterans paid their tributes to the immortalized heroes at Veer Smriti, Chandimandir. Lieutenant General Yogendra Dimri, Chief of Staff, Western Command laid the wreath on behalf of all ranks of the Western Army and paid homage to the valiant heroes. 125 Veterans from all the three services graced the occasion. On this Day, the Indian Army reaffirms its commitment towards the Veterans and reiterates firm resolve to ensure safety, security and sanctity of the Nation and its borders.
