Dharmarth Trust employees' chain hunger strike continue

Y B News Jammu, Jan 13 Dharmarth Trust employees, who are on protest for the last 44 days and chain hunger strike for the last 17 days, on Wednesday celebrated Lohri as black day, as a mark of protest against the Dharmarth Trust management for not redressing their demands. A large number of employees including Pujaris of all the temples under Dharmarth Trust assembled in Ranbirashwar Temple here and raised slogans against the Dharmarth Trust management for not redressing their demands. Besides other demands, employees pressurized the administration and Dharmarth Trust management to redress their demand of constitution of Board for all the temples under Dharmarth Trust on the pattern of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Hundreds of employees including priests from various units of the trust such as Shri Raghunath Mandir, Hari Bhawan Purmandal, Uttar Behani, Birpur and Central Office Karan Bhawan Sudh Maha Dev also participated in the protest. Those who sat on chain hunger strike today include Om Parkash, Rajat Kumar, Bablu Singh, Pt Ashwani Sharma, Pt Deep Sharma, Pritam Chand, Vinod Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Sachin Kumar and Pardeep Singh. Addressing the gathering, Working President Rajinder Shastri demanded CBI enquiry for the mismanagement and misappropriation of funds and property by the persons having control on Dharmarth Trust. He said Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in a meeting with protesting employees’ representatives on January 10 assured that a committee shall be constituted to look into the matter of Dharmarth affairs, but till today no official announcement has been made which has forced the employees to continue to protest. “The trust management uses their colorable powers and a dictatorial attitude against Trust employees to disturb smooth agitation which results to create strong discontentment among low paid employees,” he said. Demanding the Shrine Board for running proper and fair management for Dharmarth temples, he said all the employees decided that they will not work under present management and shall continue their strike till the government does not constitute a committee. He requested LG to issue an ordinance to constitute a public board for temples under Dharmarth Trust so that amicable solutions can be come out and asked trust management to stay away from threatening employees. The employees association also warned so called trust management to not try to disturb smooth ongoing agitation otherwise there will be law and order situation can be created and so called Secretary and other members of the trust shall be responsible for any disturbance in peaceful agitation of employees. Among others present in the strike were President Vivek Bandral, Ex-President Kernail Chand Thakur, ex-General Secretary, Pritam Sharma, President Vivek Bandral, Sunit Sharma, Subash, Pt Parshotam, Pt Brijmohan Sharma, Pt Om Parkash, Pt Rampal, Pt Balwant Shastri, Vimal Khajuria, Sat Paul, Pawan, Deepu, Rinku, Makhnu, Jivan, Bushan, Sonali, Renu, Anju, Sheetal, Sonika, Sukeshni, Rita Salathia, Rekha, Harbans Lal, Surjeet Singh, Parshotam Sharma, Ram Paul Sharma, Jagjeet Chand, Sahil Sharma, Pt Babu Bishambar Lal, Reeta Salathia, Raj Kumari, Leela Devi, Sheetal, Rajani, Shobha, Nisha and Sonika.
