Acid attack leaves woman injured, family blames her husband

New Delhi, Jan 13 An incident of acid attack on a woman allegedly by her husband was reported from Daulatpur area of Ashok Nagar police station in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Wednesday morning. The woman was admitted to the Habra State General Hospital by the locals. She was undergoing treatment for multiple burn injuries at the hospital. According to available information, the woman was identified as Sabita Sarkar, who was married to Dilip Majumder for a couple of years. Sabita allegedly faced domestic violence after marriage and shifted to her father's house following multiple troubles in her inlaws’ family. At the time of the acid attack, Sabita was on her way to work when her husband Dilip Majumder allegedly attacked her with acid in the Daulatpur area. She was riding her bicycle and fell down as acid hit her neck and left upper side. She received severe burn injuries in the acid attack. Following the attack, Sabita took shelter in the house of one of her neighbours identified as Minti Gorai. The incident caused a stir in the locality. The locals informed her father, Narayan Sarkar and rushed her to the hospital.
