Chennai, Jan 13 At a time when every move is part of the runup to the Tamil Nadu assembly election, political parties have been working hard to ensure a victory and are leaving no stone unturned. The year's most important festival for the people of Tamil Nadu, Pongal, is seeing all political parties working hard to gain the favour of the masses. The ruling AIADMK has announced Rs 2,500, sugarcane, one shirt and saree along with other essentials used to make Pongal (a delicacy that is made with rice) for the people of Tamil Nadu. Senior AIADMK ministers, including CM E Palaniswami, Health Minister Vijayabaskar, have been involved in personally handing over Pongal gifts to the masses. Initially, there were AIADMK banners in most ration shops where the distribution drive took place but faced a lot of backlash from opposition parties who approached the court and got the banners removed.
