Tawi Trekkers organises trek on birth anniversary of Sw Vivekanand

Y B News Jammu, Jan 12 National Youth Day, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, the maker of modern India, was celebrated by Tawi Trekkers J&K today by organizing a day long trek from Kattal Batal (Nagrota) to Aitham (7kms short of Surinsar) via Pahairh Devta. The group of 11 trekkers was led by a senior trekker Sushil Singh and included 76 years old advisor of the club Professor Lalit Magotra who is also President of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu; Ram Khajuria (71 years), President of the Club, Vivek Chauhan (59 yrs), Principal of Oriental Academy Sr. Secondary School, Jammu; Sanjiv Sharma (48 yrs), executive editor, Sportsline; Sumit Khajuria, Sonam Sidharth, Sourav Deep Singh, all senior members, Bal Krishan Sharma, Joint Director agriculture, Sahil Khajuria, new entrants to the club and 9 years old Arya Vir Singh. The trekkers enjoyed a soft trek for the first 3kms up to Pahair Devta and then another 4 kms of gentle ascent on a well laid out path amidst the charming pines leading to Aitham village. The trekkers also witnessed glorious views of flights of wild peacocks enroute their trek. Finally the trekkers also visited Surinsar and Mansar lakes. On this momentous occasion Ram Khajuria, President of the club, unfolded the mission of the club to make Tawi Trekkers J&K the biggest and most vibrant trekking club of the country. As a part of its initial endeavour to involve more and more people in trekking and other adventure activities the club is exploring the possibilities of linking Purmandal, Mohoregarh, Bhupnergarh, Dhergarh, Mansar, Surinsar and Pahair Devta for creating an adventure and heritage cum pilgrim circuit in which thousands of young boys and girls , veteran trekkers and even families shall be able to participate. During interaction with the trekkers Prof. Lalit Magotra emphasized the value of dedication and hard work to achieve the aim of making Tawi Trekkers the top club of India and quoted the inspiring words of Swami Vivekananda to “Awake, Arise and Stop Not till the goal is Achieved”.
