Normal life restored in far flung areas: DC Kupwara

YB News Kupwara, Jan 12 The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg today said that the District Administration has been working on a war footing basis to restore normal life in the district after the recent heavy snowfall. The DC informed that the border Tangdar and Machil roads have been cleared and work on snow clearance is in progress on border road Keran which is expected to be completed today. Regarding the status of essential commodities, Garg said that sufficient stock of essential commodities is available in all 3 border areas. On restoration of power supply in the border areas, the DC said that electricity was already restored in Karnah on January 8, subsequently all feeders and transformers have been restored in the sub division. Besides, work is going on for restoring grid supply in Keran and Machill areas. Adding he said the 33 KV line of Keran has been restored yesterday and normal grid supply will be provided by tomorrow, currently, electricity in these areas are provided through DG Genset. Regarding water supply, the DC said that 212 Water Supply Schemes are operational in the district, of which, 204 are fully functional and work is in progress in restoring the supply from the rest of the 08 schemes. He added that tanker supply is being provided in areas lacking the normal supply. The DC maintained that all 77, 11 KV feeders are charged and function normally adding that adequate buffer stock of transformers is also at disposal in the district. He added that 45 damaged transformers have been repaired and 09 transformers have been upgraded on public demand. The DC also said that the District Administration is working in collaboration with newly elected DDC members and BDC Chairperson in resolving the public issues.
