Widow gang-raped, iron rod inserted in private part; 4 held

Bhopal, Jan 12 A middle-aged woman has been gang-raped in Madhya Pradesh's Seedhi district by four people. An iron rod was also inserted in her private parts. "The accused came to her house late Saturday night and asked her for water, when she refused, they broke into the shanty and took turns to rape her. The accused before leaving the spot inserted an iron rod in the victim's private parts," police said. The incident happened late on Saturday night, about 40 km from the district headquarters. Dr. Kalpana Yadav, HOD, GMS, Rewa said, "The woman was in critical condition, there was an internal injury in the genitals, there was a wound of the rod which has now been operated. She is under treatment." Umesh Joga, IG Rewa Range said, "On the complaint of the victim's family, the police registered a case and arrested the four accused. The accused are residents of the same village. Police have registered a case under relevant sections. Two of the accused have identified as accused Lallu Cole, Bhai Lal Patel.
