Dilip sent to police custody for investigation into Kapil Sharma’s complaint

Mumbai, Jan 12 Popular car designer Dilip Chhabria has been sent to police custody for a day after he was earlier arrested in a cheating and forgery case. The Mumbai Police is expected to question him in connection with stand up comedian Kapil Sharma’s complaint. Magistrate SB Bhajipale remanded the car designer to one-day police custody for the investigators to probe the FIR registered by stand up comedian Kapil Sharma. Chhabria was first arrested on December 29 in connection with a car financing and dual registration racket. He was sent to judicial custody on January 7 and was lodged at a school in Taloja before he was to be sent to the jail. After Kapil Sharma registered the FIR at Versova police station, the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Mumbai crime branch, which was investigating the case against Chhabria, started the probe. While investigating officer Riyaz Kazi sought maximum police custody, he told the court that of all the documents that have been seized. “Not a single document, not even a single voucher or receipt to show that any structure of a vanity van was made has been found while Sharma had shelled out Rs 1.3 crore as parking charge for the structure. All these need to be investigated," said Kazi.
