Bhopal, Jan 12 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan questioned the logic behind 18 being the minimum age for girls to get married, while it stood at 21 years for boys, and batted for raising the marriageable age of the girls. "Why should the minimum age for girls to get married be 18 when it is 21 for boys? I want to make this a public issue that is discussed by the people," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at the inauguration of the 'samman' campaign that aims to create an atmosphere of dignity and security for women. Shivraj Singh Chouhan also reiterated his commitment to the safety of women while claiming that the number of crimes against women has gone down in the last eight months, under his regime. Shivraj Singh Chouhan also claimed that 7,100 missing girls had been traced and united with their families and efforts are on to trace the remaining missing children. The Madhya Pradesh chief minister had earlier said the parents of children abducted in Madhya Pradesh will soon be able to track the progress of the case including the status of the investigation by police.
