Sydney, Jan 11 India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin on Monday showed that he is capable of delivering for the country with his bat as well. With the ball, we have seen him win several matches for India, but against Australia in the third Test match in Sydney, he fought valiantly despite an injury and batted out 128 deliveries to earn his country a hard-fought draw. Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari, despite getting injured in the game, batted out an entire session and played 289 deliveries between the two of them to draw the third Test match in Sydney. It was only after the game on Monday that Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan revealed that her husband had not been well and had gone to sleep in pain after tweaking his back the previous night. She also said that she was extremely proud of what he had pulled off on Monday. “The man went to bed last night with a terrible back tweak and in unbelievable pain. He could not stand up straight when he woke up this morning. Could not bend down to tie his shoe laces. I am amazed at what @ashwinravi99 pulled off today,” Prithi Narayanan tweeted. The all-rounder replied to his wife’s post by saying, “Instant tears!! Thanks for being there with me through all this.” Ashwin valiantly fought off the Australian pace attack and batted for over 2 hours on Monday to score 39 runs off 128 balls. After the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara, he hung around at the crease with Hanuma Vihari for 43 overs to earn India an important draw that keeps the Border- Gavaskar Trophy series alive.
