Horticulture deptt organises Kisan Ghosti cum training

Jammu, Jan 11 Today the deptt of horticulture block Khour under the directions of Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak KAS organized Kisan Ghosti cum one month food processing training programme for women at Samwan in which more than 100 farmers participated. Chairman BDC Samwan Parveen Kumar Sharma was the chief guest at the training programme. Speaking on the occasion he emphasized on women trainees to take full benefit of such training programmes so as to become self reliant by forming self help groups and can generate income resources from their houses only. He also appreciated the efforts of the horticulture department for organizing such training programmes at far flung border areas of the Khour block. During the programme HDO Khour awarded the farmers about the different centrally and state sponsored schemes of the horticulture department especially the women trainees about different procedures to be adopted for the processing of fruits and vegetables during the one month training to convert it into value added products like jam, pickle, preserve, candy, sauces etc He also appealed women farmers to come forward for availing benefits of different schemes of the department in setting up of small scale processing units. Sarpanch Samwan Anuradha also appreciated the efforts of the Director Horticulture Jammu for organising such training programmes for the women farming community so as to become self reliant and add to the income of their family. Present on the occasion were canning instructor Mumtaz Akthar, technicians, and panches of Samwan block.
