Security beefed up for 3rd phase of DDC election in Bhaderwah

KAMRAN KHAN Bhadarwah, Dec 3 Ahead of the 3rd phase of District Development Council polls and ULB by-elections in Additional District Bhadarwah of Jammu and Kashmir, tight security arrangements have been put in place. In 3rd phase, which is going to polls tomorrow, 2 DDC members and 1 Ward member will be elected from Additional District Bhadarwah of District Doda. The DDC elections are being held for the first time in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and is considered 3rd tier after Panchayat and BDC (Block developement council elections). SDPO Bhadarwah, Meer Gafoor said that total 89 polling booths including 49 in Bhadarwah-East and 40 in Bhadarwah-west has been established for the election. All Polling parties were despatched for their respective polling stations. "Tight security arrangements have been made across Bhadarwah and beside Jammu and Kashmir police, other para military forces have been also deployed in the area and all polling stations," SDPO added, saying Nakas has been established in all exit and entrance points. 280 DDC members will be elected in the eight-phase elections, which has been started from November 28 and will end on December 19. The counting will be held on December 22. The DDC elections are being held on party basis and the 280 elected members will elect chairman for district development boards.
