Canberra, Dec 2 With his dismissal for 63 on Wednesday, India skipper Virat Kohli ended his 11-year streak of scoring ODI centuries in every calendar year since 2009. That’s been the class of the batsman who now has 43 ODI cent u r i e s . Kohli scored his maiden ODI ton against the Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in December 2009, and has never failed to score a ton in any calendar year. He has been in such good form the last three years that he has scored 17 ton since just 2017- six in 2017, six in 2018 and 5 in 2019. Of course, a reason for the infamous record is also the fewer ODI matches this year due to the coronavirus- induced pandemic. However, at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday, Virat Kohli also got to another milestone, one that he can be incredibly proud of. He became the fastest batsman to get to 12,000 ODI runs. The batsman reached the milestone in his 251st ODI game, breaking the record of ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar, who had done it in 3 0 9 matches. On Sund a y , K o h l i also bec a m e t h e fastest b a t s - man to get to 22,000 international runs. He got to this milestone in the 2nd ODI match against Australia in Sydney. Virat Kohli has been in decent form in the ongoing ODI series. He was looking sharp in the series opener in Sydney but was dismissed for 21. However, the skipper hit a solid 89 in the second match, showcasing the wide array of strokes but his efforts were not enough for India in their mammoth chases of 375 and 390. 2020 hasn't been a good year for Virat Kohli as India captain as the Asian giants have lost 5 back-toback ODIs - 3 in New Zealand
