New Delhi, Oct 23 A group of 30 India women's cricketers arrived in the UAE on Thursday in the lead to the Women's T20 Challenge -- the third edition of what is popularly known as the mini IPL. The 3- team tournament will start on November 4 and the finals will be held on November 9 in Sharjah. India women's cricket team stars, including Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues were seen sporting PPE kits as they were seen reaching the UAE in a chartered plane from Mumbai. Notably, the 30-member contingent from India had undergone a nine-day quarantine period in Mumbai wherein they underwent multiple Covid-19 PCR-RT tests. The players and the support staff will be in quarantine for 6 more days wherein they will undergo 3 more tests. Much like the men's cricketers, the women's stars can enter the bio-bubble after successful negative tests over the next 6 days. The BCCI announced the squad of Women's T20 Challenge earlier this month. Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana were named captains of the 3 teams -- Supernovas, Trailblazers and Velocity. "Let's hear it for our girls! Hello UAE The #Supernovas, #Trailblazers, #Velocity have arrived. CANNOT WAIT for Women's T20 Challenge," the IPL said in a social media post while sharing photos of the star cricketers. Apart from the local talent, overseas stars like Sophie Ecclestone, Danielle Wyatt, Chamari Atapattu are also part of the Women's T20 Challenge, which clashes with the Women's Big Bash League scheduled.
