With Fit India Movement, we can have fi tter Indians

To mark the one-year anniversary of Fit India Movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with fitness experts and influencers from across the country. PM Modi talked about his idea of a healthy lifestyle and discussed with the influencers the virtues of a healthy routine as part of the virtual dialogue. Cricketer Virat Kohli, model, actor and runner Milind Soman, and nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar were among the fitness influencers who participated in the event. The Fit India Dialogue is an effort to make citizens of the country draw out a plan to make India a fit nation. The basic tenet on which the Fit India Movement was envisaged, that of involving citizens to imbibe fun, easy and non-expensive ways in which to remain fit and therefore bring about a behavioural change which makes fitness an imperative part of every Indian’s life, is being strengthened by this dialogue. PM Modi gave India a new fitness mantra - 'Fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz' - implying that one should do any outdoor activity of choice for at least 30 minutes to remain fit daily. PM Modi also gave another slogan - 'a family that plays together, stays together'. While interacting with Milind Soman, a heartthrob of early 90’s. Modi asked him whether he was that old, which Mlind replied that at the age of 55, he can walk 100 kms per day. Milind Soman pointed out that the older generation was used to walking up to 50 KM a day and women in villages still do so for daily chores like fetching water. "But in cities we are sedentary. The more we keep sitting, our energy and fitness goes down. It is normal for any person to do 100 KM a day," he said. To stay fit, gyms and heavy machinery is not required, one has to mentally fit and mental strength is must. The post COVID times are very tough for the whole world. In the present tough times, a good immunity of body is must. The person with good immunity can overcome coronavirus infection with in few days. The Fit India Movement will help in creating awareness among the people of the nation.
