Amid pandemic, the heath sector is witnessing a very rough phase. COVID patients are pouring into hospitals due to which the doctors are getting overburdened. In last couple of days, many have filed complaints against the doctors for not treating the patients properly. The problem is both sides. People with mild flu symptoms are approaching hospitals in fear of being infected by corona virus. As a result the hospitals are overburdened and so are doctors. In order to overcome the bottleneck, the decision of discharging form Hospital after 10 days is a good initiative which will reduce the burden on hospital and every one will get a fair chance of availing the health care facility. In view of the recent surge in COVID cases in Jammu province, the Principal, GMC, Jammu, has been asked to ensure adequate supply of oxygen and other supplies in the hospital, including PPE kits, besides recruitment of adequate manpower to overcome the problems in the hospital during this pandemic. The administration has decided to install 150 CCTVs at GMC for better patient management and monitoring, besides establishing a special COVID counter in Emergency Block of GMC to act as one point contact of COVID testing and subsequent segregation of symptomatic, asymptomatic, and negative cases. With the installation of CCTVs there would be transparency in the medical treatment of COVID patients. In the last few months people were complaining that COVID patients were not treated well in hospital, so now with the CCTVs the things will be clear as to what all goes inside with COVID patients. The discharge policy will be helpful in lessening the burden on the tertiary health care system. So the point remains to be more alert now, as hospitals are not going to keep patients for long. Safety has to be our main concern. Its better to take precautions and stay away from the deadly virus. No vaccine has been developed so far. Cases are rising at a very alarming pace, health workers are exhausting, hospitals are full, the discharge policy won’t allow you to stay for long, hence it clearly indicates that one has to be extra careful and follow all the SOPs to overcome the pandemic.
