New Delhi, Sep 15 Australian pacer James Pattinson, who will be playing for the Mumbai Indians this season, completed his mandatory quarantine and joined the team for his first practise session on Monday. The former Kolkata Knight Riders bowler was a late entry into the Mumbai Indians franchise after he was brought in to replace Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga, who was ruled out of IPL 2020 due to ‘personal reasons’. In a video posted by Mumbai Indians on their official Twitter handle on Tuesday, Pattinson could be seen having a bowl in the nets. He expressed excitement at the prospect of bowling with Jasprit Bumrah, who he said is the best T20 bowler in the world. “Personally it is fantastic to work with some of the best bowlers in the world. Obviously, Bumrah is probably, the best T20 bowler in the world. And Boulty is up there as well. So, for me it will be a great experience to be around those guys [here at Mumbai Indians].” The Australian also spoke about the conditions in the UAE, and his experience of having played some one day international cricket here. “I’ve played a few one day internationals here before, so I have gotten a little bit of experience here in the UAE. Look, there are obviously different wickets. They are a lot drier, and there is only three wickets being used during the tournament, so it might be a bit slower and low as the tournament goes on. So, maybe the slower ball and stuff like that might come into play a lot more. As a fast bowler you are just trying to bang the wicket as hard as possible and change of pace and bowl fast. That’s the thing with T20 cricket.” With IPL 2020 starting in four days and defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on the threetime champions Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, Pattinson expressed hope that he would be able to raise his level up soon and be ready to give it a go for the Mumbai franchise. “I know the games are just around the corner.
