Will do everything I can to take some pressure off Kohli: Finch

New Delhi, Aug 6 Royal Challengers Bangalore's new recruit Aaron Finch said he is looking forward to playing under Virat Kohli as he is excited to see the drive and competitive nature of the RCB captain upclose in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. RCB snapped up the services of Australia captain Aaron Finch for Rs 4.4 crore after a bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders at IPL 2020 auction in December 2019. Finch has had to wait longer than usual to return to the IPL but the big-hitting openers is keen on joining the team in the UAE. IPL 2020 was postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and it missed the April-May window. However, BCCI announced iPL 2020 will be held in the UAE from September 19 to November 10 after the T20 World Cup was postponed due to the pandemic. Finch said he was looking forward to play in Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in front of a packed crowd but he expects a 'fun' outing in the UAE even as IPL 2020 is gearing up to be held behind closed doors. "I can't wait to join up with RCB. To get the opportunity to play for a franchise that has some of the greatest players in the world is going to be fun. It would have been amazing to play in front of the home crowd at Chinnaswamy but representing the franchise in UAE will still mean a huge amount to me," Finch told ANI news agency. Having led Australia in limited-overs in the recent past, Finch adds leadership value to RCB along with South Africa star AB de Villiers. Having not won the IPL since its inception in 2008, Kohli will be keen on getting the elusive trophy in the UAE and having leaders around him will certainly help. Finch believes he will be able to everything that he can possibly do to help reduce the pressure on captain Virat Kohli at RCB in IPL 2020. "It will be my first time playing under Virat's leadership but something I'm very excited about. Having played against him for a number of years now in international cricket and IPL I know how driven and competitive he is, that is something I'm looking forward to seeing up close," Finch said. "I hope that my experience will come in handy, being able to help out anyone I can during the IPL. If that means I can help take some pressure off Virat then I will do everything I have to." Virat Kohli has not had a lot of opportunities to train outdoors as India was under lockdown due to the pandemic. However, the India and RCB skipper is gearing up to be part of IPL 2020 with some high-intensity indoor training routines.
