B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE)

B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) is an autonomous engineering college in Basavangudi, Bangalore, India. It was started in 1946 by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah and is run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust.It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on the Basavangudi Area Bull Temple Road, diagonally opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka. BMSCE was founded in 1946 by B. M. Sreenivasaiah with 3 undergraduate courses (Mechanical, Civil & Electrical), claiming to be "the first private sector initiative in engineering education in India". Sreenivasaiah was followed by his son B. S. Narayan BMSCE was ranked 69 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) engineering ranking in 2019 and 40 by Outlook India's "India's Top 150 Engineering Colleges in 2019 ".[4] It was ranked sixth among private engineering colleges by India Today in 2019 The College was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with highest grade of A++ in the Second Cycle : with a CGPA of 3.83 on a scale of four which is highest in the Country. The reaccreditation status is valid from 28.03.2019 to 28.03.2024. BMSCE was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A++ grade. Some of the college courses are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University. But following the Indian military performance in World War I, the Montagu-Chelmsford Reforms facilitated the officer training of 10 Indian commissioned officers at Royal Military College, Sandhurst.
