Developing the sports infrastructure at the grass root level in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is the need of time. J&K has not a very good record of producing players who have attained the international standard, the main reason behind it is lack of sports infrastructure. For developing sports infrastructure at the grass root level, the play-grounds in every district and village should be developed. The sports activities should be inculcated amongst children from school level. Just like CBSE Schools made Physical Education subject mandatory similarly High Schools in Jammu and Kashmir with play grounds should have a Physical Education Teacher (PeT) to benefit the student community at large. 12 Multipurpose Indoor Sports Stadium halls, shall be ready by March 2020, which will boost the sports culture amongst youth and children. Various initiatives have been under-taken by the J&K Sports Council to promote and involve more youngsters towards sports; discipline-wise requirement of coaches by the J&K Sports Council; status of Khelo India- Sports for Peace and Development; procurement of sports equipment and other such important matters related to the functioning of Department of Youth Services and Sports. Now it is time to implement the initiatives at war footing so that our young talent gets platform to develop their career in sports.
