Police recovers 275 kilograms of poppy straw

Jammu, June 1 As per Police sources, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station raised a naka at Suketar and stopped a truck bearing registration no PB07X-1790 for checking. On seeing police cops, the truck driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops thwarted his design and intercepted the truck. During checking and frisking, police recovered 275 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from the vehicle which was concealed in special cavities formed in the truck. The accused driver identified as Kuldeep Singh son of Hardyal Singh resident of Bhagoran, District Nawashehar, Punjab was arrested. In this connection Fir no. 97/2020 u/s 8/15/25ndps act registered at p/s Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation was taken up to unearth the racket. Jammu & Kashmiri Police has requested public to cooperate and strengthen the hands of police to weed out the social evil of drug menace by providing information regarding any type of activities of Nacrosmugglers in their area to police.
