Odisha initiates Unlock 1.0 process

Bhubaneswar, June 1 As the nation geared up for Unlock 1.0, Odisha has initiated the process of opening up services and pave way for the resumption of inter-state bus services. "Odisha has sent letters to all states on bus connectivity seeking their response for the resumption of inter-state services," said Odisha Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera. As railways resumed services, the Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express Special Train chugged out of Bhubaneswar railway station at around 6 am on Monday as nation stepped into 'Unlock 1.0' after 67 days of lockdown. The railways will be running 200 special trains from Monday and these trains are in addition to Shramik Special and AC Special trains running since May 12, East Coast Railway (ECoR) said. Notably, 26 lakh passengers have booked tickets for train travel between June 1 and 30 through the Advance Reservation Period (ARP). With the resumption of flight services by Alliance Air to Bhubaneswar and Kolkata from Jharsuguda on Monday, the city has regained complete air connectivity. While flight operations had resumed on May 25, but due to technical glitches, it had to be postponed. However, SpiceJet's Delhi and Hyderabad flights had begun operation as scheduled from the VSS Airport at Jharsuguda. The Alliance Air flight started from Kolkata at 5.55 am and reached Jharsuguda at 7.45 am. Another flight from Jharsuguda started at 8.10 am and reached Bhubaneswar at 9.15 am. Meanwhile, private offices and banks in Odisha are operating with 50 per cent manpower with strict instructions.
