AGSs to be digitized, students will benefit immensely

Y B News Srinagar Feb 28 Chinar Corps signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with iDreams Social Edtech Foundation to increase the digitisation of Army Goodwill Schools (AGSs) from six to sixteen. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme has initiated the project with Indian Army for ‘Digitization of 10 more AGSs’. The project will be executed by one of the leaders in school digitisation, iDreams Social Edtech Foundation in next two months. Speaking on the occasion Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander said that “AGS is one of our flagship projects for the Kashmiri youth and Awaam. Our constant endeavour has been to contribute in any way to empower the youth. That is our dream, and that dream is going to be made into a reality through the support by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd and iDreams Social Edtech Foundation”. He also emphasised that “Kashmir is a land of the learned. This land has given the Nation some of the most prolific Sufi saints, poets, intellectuals, educationists and brilliant artisans. The Army has a vision to contemporise the education infrastructure and digitisation of classrooms is one such project. The Chinar Corps Commander highlighted that AGS as a concept has contributed a lot towards the Kashmiri society. Their results are always or near 100%. The commitment of the teachers, parents and students was visible even after 5th August, when there was 100% attendance of the teachers and almost 80-90% attendance of students and the students who could not attend was due to long distance & availability of transport. The Army, as coordinators and organisers, have in some way honoured this commitment.
