JMC LAUNCHES SANITATION DRIVE

Jammu, Feb 27 In order to give boost to the Swachh Bharat Mission on the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation today launched Sanitation Drive in the area of Shahidhi Chowk, Residency Road, and Christian Colony. The drive was flagged off by Chairman Public Health & Sanitation, Councillor of ward no. 6 & 7 in the presence of Health Officer Dr. Suresh Gupta, Municipal Veterinary Officer and staff of Health & Sanitation Wing. During the drive, thorough cleaning/desilting of the lanes/drains in all the areas of the ward was done. Besides sprinkling of lime was also done to beat the odour and foul smell during the drive. Additional men and machinery was also deployed during the drive. Simultaneously, in order to stop illegal construction of commercial establishment and to implement the Master Plan – 2032 in letter & spirit, the team of JMC as per the directions of Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa (IAS), & under the close supervision of Jt. Commissioner (Adm.) Ashish Kumar Gupta (KAS), sealed a shop which was running illegally by Ranjit Singh S/o Pritam Singh 55/A, Shastri Nagar near cremation ground. It is once again appealed to the general public not to construct illegal structures for doing commercial activity and always get your building plans approved by BOCA of JMC. Chairman Public Health & Sanitation while speaking on the occasion, appeal the people to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and use identified places for disposal of garbage. He also stressed to avoid use of polythene to the extent possible which is the major cause of blockage of drains and nallahs. Some defaulters were also observed and accordingly fined by Sanitation Staff of JMC under relevant clause of Municipal bye laws. Health Officer while speaking on the occasion appeal the people to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation to achieve the goal of making city Jammu Clean & Green and dispose off their garbage at designated spot or in Bins only.
