Bharati Vidyapeeth

located in Pune. It was established in 1964 by Indian politician and educationist Patangrao Kadam. Bharati Vidyapeeth has campuses across the country at New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Sangli, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur, Karad, Satara, and Panchgani. It runs more than 78 schools and 60 institutions of higher education, including those of professional education. Among these are colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Management, Hotel Management, Catering Technology, Environment Science and Agriculture etc. On 26 April 1996 the Government of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted the status of "Deemed to be University" to a cluster of 12 institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth. The university has four campuses in Pune at Katraj (Dhankawadi), Balewadi, Lavale, and Kothrud. The Katraj campus is the prime campus of BVDU and is spread across 85 acres of land, It's a private deemed university and houses 24 colleges of various disciplines major among them are the Medical College, Dental College, & College Of Engineering Pune. This campus has a fully developed football and sports ground of 5 acres. It also houses the Bharati Hospital and an Ayurved and Homeopathic Hospital. There are Hostels on campus for students, canteens, an ATM centre, Bharati Bank Branch, 24 hrs open Medical Store, Mess facility and the campus is a well-maintained environment- friendly green campus. The Erandawane (Kothrud) campus is located in the heart of Pune City and houses 5 major and other smaller colleges primary among them are IME.
