Dogra Cultural cum Cuisine Festival organized in New Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 20 Jammu Diary in association with the Press Club of India and International Dogra Society(IDS) organized Dogra Cultural cum Cuisine Festival at New Delhi in the premises of Press Club of Jammu. The event was organized to showcase the rich cultural heritage and cuisine of the Dogras of Jammu to sensitise the entire nation about the untapped treasures of Jammu region. The vent was a comprehensive package of the culture and cuisine that included the spell binding performances by the renowned Dogra artists who enthralled the audience with their presentations. The presentations included the Dogra folk songs, dances and rich tradition of art. The artists who performed these items included Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Radhika Chopra, Urvashi Kiran Sharma, Sanchita Abrol and Manju Wazir. The traditional Dogra cuisine that as served on the occasion included Rajma Chawal, Ambal, Maa ka madra, Chuware ka madra, Kyur, Khata meat and Yakhni Meat. These dishes were relished by the youth participants and guests . Dr.Karan Singh, a renowned scholar, MP and former sadar-i-Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir was the Chief Guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion he said, “This festival signifies the resurgence of the Dogra youth who have managed to bring Dogra culture to Jammu and sensitized the youth about the rich inheritance of our ancestors who not only shaped erstwhile princely state but encouraged and patronided the inclusiveness. Sugam Bral the young organizer of the event derserves appreciation for uniting Dogras to preserve their culture. Youth have to be the ambassadors of the cultural renaisaance of Jammu.” Prof.Bhim Singh from JKNPP and Sham Lal Sharma, former cabinet Minister of J&K, Vikramaditya Singh and Ajaatshatru Singh were the guests of honour on the occasion. All the dignitaries were appreciate of the event and emphasized to take this event to every state of the country to showcase the rich Dogra heritage. Sugam Bral, organizer of the event and Chairman Jammu Diary while speaking on the occasion said,” Dogras have a rich tangible and intangible that has been neglected due to discrimination and relegating to the background its integrality with the Sanskrit civilization of Indian nation. This event is an outcome of our comprehensive mission to sensitize the youth in particular and the tourism marketers in particular about the Dogra heritage that was never given due in the marketing strategies to develop the tourism infrastructure. We urge the policy makers in the incumbent government at the centre to develop a segementised framework for the sustainable showcasing of Dogra heritage of Jammu. We are at the forefront of this Dogra renaissance guided by a team of advisors and professionals who have an international profile grounded in the Sanskrit civilization of the Himalyas in jammu and Kashmir.” Anil Anand, senior journalist and member Press Club of India said,” the media has a wider role to play to bring out the Dogra heritage on the cultural and tourism landscape of India so that niche tourism is developed in Jammu with a national and international outlook. Jammu is already an international destination due to the pil;grimage centre of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra that invites nearly a crore pilgrims on an average every year.
