Dhawan shoulder injury forces Rahul to open with Rohit

Bengaluru, Jan 19 Senior opener Shikhar Dhawan was taken off the field after he hurt his left shoulder in the series-deciding third ODI between India and Australia here on Sunday. Dhawan dived to save an Aaron Finch shot in the cover region before hurting his left shoulder in the fifth over. Providing an update on Sikhar Dhawan injury, BCCI tweeted that he has been taken for an X-Ray and the decision on his availability for the rest of the game will be taken once he returns after the scan. The 34-year-old had not taken the field for the entire duration of the Australian innings in the second ODI after a Pat Cummins bouncer hit him on the rib cage while batting. Shikhar Dhawan was already in pain as before coming into the series decider as he was hit on rib cage by a Pat Cummins bouncer while batting in the second ODI against Australia on Friday as he did not take the field during the entire Australia innings. Dhawan was hit in the 10th over of the Indian innings. While he was in considerable pain and needed medical attention, he decided to carry on batting, scoring a fluent 96 in India's total of 340 for six. Ironically, it was against Australia in the World Cup that Dhawan.
