SAINIK WELFARE BOARD CELEBRATES ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY

Jammu, Dec 9 Dec 7 is celebrated as Flag Day throughout our Country to recognize the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces. On this day our citizens express their solidarity with Armed Forces and express their gratitude to the soldiers by providing donation for Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. Morale of Armed Forces multiples with the active support of the citizens. To increase the interaction between citizens/NGOs and Armed Forces, Sainik Welfare Deptt has chalked out a number of programmes to ensure that our citizens are associated more with Armed Forces, Soldiers and Veer Naris. Towards this end, a programme has been started, wherein citizens/NGOs are encouraged to adopt families of our Battle Causalities. To further integrate our students in this programme, JK Academy of Arts and Culture has conducted a Painting Competition on the theme “Hamare Sainik Hamari Shaan”, on 03 Dec 19, where close to 400 children participated. A Quiz Competition was conducted at Shiksha Niketan Higher secondary School(Jeevan Nagar) based on subject connected with Armed Forces, its equipment, Famous Battles and Military ethos. Mr Rameshwar Mengi, Chairman of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School(Jeevan Nagar) coordinated the event. Arun Sharma, (Regional Secretary, Bhartiya Vikas Parishad), made contact with various school and motivated them for active participation in Quiz Competition. The response was overwhelming. A total of 20 schools participated. The quiz competition was staged by Col Virendra K Sahi, VrC. Final was conducted between top five 5 teams, after a keenly contested written test of teams, in stage 1. The position of final 5 teams in the ascending order was Heritage School Sainik Colony (1), Sainik School Nagrota (2), Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar (3), Stephen International School Miran Sahib (4) & Fouji Public School Raya Morh (5).
